In the beginning
Good Morning! And so the new year begins… in the beginning of a new year, an appointed time to change the calendars, a new start to things, it might behoove us to consider the ultimate beginning.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Gen. 3:1-3
In the beginning of our existence, there was not a “big bang” but instead, a decisive action of an all-powerful Creator. In the beginning, God created… Was there a big bang? I don’t know, but what Genesis one tells us is that God spoke and our universe came into existence. He then proceeded to impose order and rule. Separated light and darkness, provided the background for all that we see in our universe: heavenly bodies, birds and fish, land animals of all sorts and finally, a special creation, mankind.
Yes, we are different from animals, because we are created in the image of the Creator! In the beginning, God created them, male and female he created them. He placed eternity in our hearts (Eccl. 3:11), so we would seek Him.
Let’s continue to teach this in spite of the rising voice of opposition to creation as a viable explanation for our beginning! In the beginning, God created… ‘Nuff said!!
God bless and I hope you have a great 2015!
