Good Morning!
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. ‘But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth.'” Luke 21:33-35
I heard this morning that security in many federal buildings is being increased, not because of a specific threat, but because of the generally higher threat in the world at this time. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but may be wise. We have enemies that want to hurt us.
However, the admonition to “watch yourselves” also seems appropriate. Care should be taken by our government to consider its own actions as well.
We also, as individuals should “watch yourselves” in these times. It seems to me that there are many opponents or adversaries out there who are seeking to devour us for living a Christian life. (see 1 Peter 5:8).
Again, the focus should not only be on those around us, but also we need to “watch yourselves” in regard to our own behavior. As the passage we opened with reminds us, the day is coming when we will give an answer (2 Cor. 5:10) Every one of us.
Watch yourselves!
God bless and have a great day!
