When death comes knocking

dawn

Good Morning!

I have been thinking this morning about the elder of the church in Cadiz KY who encountered death along with his wife and daughter as they returned home from church services. This is a terrible tragedy, but… he was an elder serving in the Lord’s church. He was living well according to God’s Word. To him, death was not a dreadful thing, but a step into the reward!

“What shall I render to the Lord for all his benefits to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord, I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Ps. 116:12-15

What is our response to God’s mercy? What was this family doing when death came knocking? They had been about the business of living as God designed for them. They were enjoying the benefits of being God’s children and sharing that with others. They had been calling on His name. And they remained faithful even until death!

“‘O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Cor. 15:55-57

Precious indeed in the sight of the Lord is the death of His holy ones.

God bless and have a great day!!
