Despair turned to Hope!

Despair turned to Hope!

Despair turned to Hope!

Despair turned to Hope!

Our Lord has a different way of looking at things.

And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. Matt. 9:23-25

He doesn’t see things the way we do. These people saw and knew death. They felt despair at the loss of a child. They were not as ignorant as we sometimes are given to believe. Jesus was not contradicting their assessment, as much as He was redefining the situation. She was asleep, a term often used for death, but with a whole different expectation of the outcome.

When we are hopeless and in despair, He sees opportunity and gives comfort. He turns our despair into hope!

Life restored!

He took an opportunity to give back life to a child, but in a very real sense He does the same for us. When we are in a state of despair, lacking all hope of revival and lost in our sin, He comes along and says, “I can fix that. Not dead, just asleep.” When we do what He commands, he restores life and hope. He turns our despair into hope!

He is greater than any problem we face, including death! Despair can indeed be turned to joy through the blood of Jesus Christ. Eternal life replaces death and death becomes sleep for those who are in Christ!

God bless and have a great day!
